Symposium overview
The sequencing field has experienced a major shift with the introduction of innovative, high-throughput sequencing technologies. Since its launch, next-generation sequencing has already had dramatic impact on research in molecular biology, and has challenged traditional concepts of gene expression and genome organisation. Three high-profile speakers will provide an overview on the exciting landscape of large-scale sequencing, as participants in projects such as the 1000 Genomes Project, and the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC).  Beyond the state of the art, the symposium will highlight upcoming single-molecule sequencing technologies, likely the next big innovation in the sequencing field, with entirely new sets of applications.
